Attendance and Punctuality
Regular attendance at school is vital for children’s academic and social development. We encourage children to attend school every day.
To support the school as a Covid- safe environment, if your child has a raised temperature then it is very important to keep your child at home. If you are unsure of whether to send your child into school then please read the guides that you will find below or contact the school office and speak to Mrs Field.
Whether you think that your child may have corona virus or a non- corona virus illness, please notify the school office on the first day of each absence before 9.00am. In line with the school's policy we follow up all unexplained absences with a phone call.
If a child is late, please report to the school office so the attendance register can be completed.
There is no legal right to take children out of school during term time for holidays. Absence is likely to be detrimental to pupils’ progress and parents should not therefore take their children on holiday during term time. If you need to take your child out of school for a special circumstance such as a funeral, then please speak to Ms Berry or Mrs Field.
Essex policy in September 2015 states “If the absence is not authorised and the holiday is taken, the case will be referred to the Education Welfare Service who may issue a Penalty Notice for £120 (or £60 if paid within 21 days) to each parent for each child taken out of school.”
Please find the school's guides to support the school as a Covid-safe environment.
