Agents for Change
At Birchanger Primary School we are all Agents of Change! Aligned with our school value of ‘Believing’ we encourage the children to be ‘Agents of Change’ – in themselves, in our school, in our community and around the planet. Agents of Change comprises of 40 challenges that develop critical thinking skills and inspire the courageous advocacy of our children. It cultivates the voice, skills, and passion of children, and the impact they can have as global citizens. A number of the challenges help children to focus on the importance of their own well-being, physical and mental health. Other challenges are then designed to help children lead and participate in projects that give something back to others. Children complete the projects by themselves, with friends or with family; and we also complete some of the challenges as a whole school and as individual classes.
The most important thing is that our children's projects are about something they are passionate about - this could be contacting politicians, encouraging them to look after the environment or writing about a cause close to their heart. The possibilities are absolutely endless! Each child will have brought this poster home so that they can keep track of the projects they have completed and plan what they want to do next.
When projects are completed, children earn a stamp in their ‘Agents for Change’ passport. When children have completed 7 projects and had their passport stamped, they will have earned an Agents of Change badge which is presented to them in our Celebration Worship. There are 7 badges for them to collect!
